"Human evolution...progresses through an interplay of inner and outer worlds, individuals and societies, nature and culture." - Fritjof Capra

Paradigm /noun/ 1: EXAMPLE, PATTERN; especially : an outstandingly clear or typical example or archetype. 2: a philosophical and theoretical framework of a scientific school or discipline within which theories, laws, and generalizations and the experiments performed in support of them are formulated.

WELCOME TO PARADIGM SHIFTS!

This Web site is dedicated to the exploration of the ever-changing scope of human consciousness. Through words, written or spoken, we can shatter the bonds of ignorance or imprison ourselves...the choice is ours. This site provides a forum for those who want to speak out, via the Internet, on the state of society at the local, national, or even global scale. According to scholars such as Fritjof Capra, the cyclical nature of civilization cannot be ignored or denied. It is wise for us to stay aware and recongnize this cycle. To do otherwise is to suffer when change inevitably occurs.

Anyone interested in submitting to this site can e-mail essays, prose, poetry, hate mail about what a stain the site is on the Internet, or other rantings to asees13@yahoo.com.

This site does not adhere to any single aspect of cultural phenomenon. Discussion and written works dedicated to everything from anarchy to far-right politics are welcome. In this way we may see how civilization can embrace all that we create.

DEDICATION:

Paradigm Shifts was inspired first and foremost by the works of physicist Fritjof Capra. Thomas Kuhn, credited with fathering the concept of paradigm shifts in his 1962 work, The Structure of Scientific Revolutions, is another influence. Mythologist Joseph Campbell is yet another. To them and to my other muses, I give thanks.
WHAT'S NEW!

Mea culpa. Nothing has been new on the site for over a year until today, 4/29/03, sorry about that. The site was created on February 5th, 2001.

Hey, take a look at ALL the sections of the site and tell me what you think! Email me...and make sure that you SIGN THE GUESTBOOK!

4/29/2003 - after more than a year of not touching the old site, i decided to step back in and at least clean up and update the front page a bit. no, neither my web building resources or skills have improved much since i last worked on this beast. the site will remain, but i have no current intentions of any ramping back up of my maintenance duties. but there is a lot of history here, and i am a sentimental creature, and i can't bear to part with this run down little corner of the 'net i call my own. perhaps much to the chagrin of some of you out there. thanks to those of you who still wander in from time to time. maybe...maybe is all i can say of someday coming in and pulling a "this old website" like some web-based bob vila...one can dream. but other less electronic aspirations have and always will take a front seat. but until that day that i brush off my meager html skills, the site remains mostly closed, just a place to keep some of me and my thoughts in cyberspace...and as a reminded to me of my first real foray into the wilds of the web. if you email, i will respond, so if you really want to say something, drop me a line at asees13@yahoo.com! THANKS!

YOU CAN TAKE A LOOK AT MY OLD BLOG HERE.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

I tried to find Him on the Christian cross, but He was not there; I went to the Temple of the Hindus and to the old pagodas, but I could not find a trace of Him anywhere.

I searched on the mountains and in the valleys but neither in the heights nor in the depths was I able to find Him. I went to the Caaba in Mecca, but He was not there either.

I questioned the scholars and the philosophers, but He was beyond their understanding.

I then looked into my heart and it was there where He dwelled that I saw Him; He was nowhere else to be found.

- Jelaluddin Rumi
